This is why I'm a Nerd
So, I was prettying my face a little bit ago when I discovered an evil mutant ant lurking across my neck. Like any decent person, I immediately shrieked and brushed the villain away- casting him onto the floor. I vanquished the monster via a long piece of toilet paper, carrying him on the sheet to safety outdoors/the deck where he will surely fall victim to one of the trillion birds milling about.
Then I got to thinking how this monster had gotten onto me. And then, my nerddom shone. Presented in the order that I thought them, here are the explanations:
Answer 1) It had come from my ear, wherein a colony of such insects reside working toward my brain to gain control. When they have succeeded, they will use me as a host to their nefarious schemes. I believe this plot came from the X-Files, though it may have been a different type of creature. Also reeks of Animorphs, Men in Black, Star Trek, and urban legends surrounding ear wigs. Those stories used to creep the heck out of me as a kid.
2) I had unconsciously drawn the ant to me with my telepathic ant-communicating powers (ala Ant Man). He was merely a little friend coming to help me fight off the forces of evil. More will follow (shiver!).
3) An omen that the Avengers movie will be awesome despite the cheesiness of the Ant-Man origin story/powers. Both Edward Norton and Robert Downy Jr. will get shirtless scenes. God's in His Heaven, All's Right with the World (also the NERV logo O.o)
4) A vampire ant coming to drain my blood (very slowly... and where would it all go? He's tiny!).
The fifth explanation, probably the most logical, is that the little fellow climbed onto my hand without me noticing it when I pet my cat, Margaret. She'd just come in and was oozing with outdoorness. Then he proceeded up my shirt and onto my neck, trying to figure a way out. And then, without any warning, he heard a gigantic high pitched sound and found himself thrown to the ground. He was then coerced onto a certainly unstable surface, brought into the air and carried across a vast expanse of land in seemingly a single bound. He then found himself set down on a familiar surface though far from his home. Luckily, he is a carpenter ant and has the advantage of his size for finding the nest... unless it really is in my head gah!

What to do
There are a lot of options. I will be graduating next June and I'm not sure what I will be doing afterward. I've signed up to take a GRE prep class and the actual test (not just taking class to shoot the breeze) so probably Master's. But in what? Or doctorate with masters? And maybe Law school is the best option? Or maybe just going straight to work and working on my writing (which obviously is in dire need of sorting out). Or go to Spain? (why not?)
For Master's programs, there is still the option of what to study. I'm an Asian Studies major but it can be totally unrelated. If I'm going for the PhD afterward/with- then I can do Buddhist Studies, Asian Languages and Literature, Asian Studies, Ethnic studies, and other hippie degrees hoorah. Otherwise, I should go for a career-oriented major- like International Studies-- East Asia or Linguistics or ESL teaching.
I just want to be a writer but I don't want to be broke. T.T

I Don't Want to Study!
I want to decorate my Pieces of Flair board on Facebook. Or play the piano. Or work on my story. Or try to finish The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Or go see Kung Fu Panda. Or finish season four of Buffy or one of Angel. Or pretty much anything that isn't studying. Sometimes I wonder what the consequences would actually be if I didn't study for a final- hm...

Apart from Edward Gorey, Justin Hillgrove is my favorite. I really like monsters in art. Gris Grimley is also very good. I try to collect children's books with really good artwork in them. Some time, I'll put a list on here. It's hard to get them for cheap though, which is frustrating.
Some are online, like the Gashlycrumb Tinies (http://users.aol.com/emarko/gorey.html). I used to have this book but it was disappeared by some untrustworthy borrower at some point... I use the word "some" a lot...
If I had one superpower it would probably be telekinesis because you could use the power to propel air and make yourself fly! And other stuff, like control flames and water. It reminds me of the end of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel when the title characters are stuck in this warped space that is always dark and rainy. But I probably wouldn't have it like that at all ^.^* And they were working to put an end to that at the end of the book (I hope she writes a sequel!).
I'm working on learning "Life is Like a Boat" by Rie Fu for piano. I have an accompaniment part from Josh's Anime Sheet Music (http://josh.agarrado.net/music/anime/) and the mp3 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AK5ZVQ3Y) but haven't got it quite down yet. It's pretty and piano-heavy so it'll be fun when I have it.
I need to stop wasting my time and go to sleep!!!

Guilty Pleasures
Except I don't really feel guilty about them. I've recently become an ardent fan of jelly beans. I'm thinking that this is probably because I can't tell what a flavor is just by looking at it, so jelly bean eating adds a degree of mystery to my life. For the most part, I know that yellow and green are good and red and brown are almost always bad- and I'm very good at detecting buttered popcorn (Why would they even make this a jelly bean flavor) but beyond that I'm lost. The same reasoning probably explains why Mystery Flavor is my favorite dum dum.
Shoddy internet connections are ruining my experience with another guilty pleasure, Puzzle Pirates (argh). It's an online multi-player puzzle game (many puzzles) and you go around performing them with your own little pirate character. Mine is named Mallay and she's dressed to the nines because I forked out the $70/yr this year and last so that I can buy the subscriber only clothes AND play all the puzzles everyday. And they randomly give subscribers presents from time to time- hoorah! My favorite puzzles are shipwrightery (like a jigsaw puzzle but not really) and sailing (like Tetris but not really). I also love Hearts but it's a betting game, so I only play when I've extra POE (pieces of eight) to burn. Right now I'm saving up for a new pet though..... poor Courtney the Rat (current pet).
I'm also a YouTube addict (but who isn't?). Unfortunately, I need to find more channels to subscribe to. Right now, I'm subscribed to KevJumba, HappySlip, 5awesomegays, Itsjustsomerandomguy, and DisneyKid1. They are all comedy channels, which probably speaks poorly for me, though I assure you, I am VERY serious. -.- <-- like this.

I should be doing something else....
Like sleeping! But I'm trying to set this blog up before I go to Tokyo so it doesn't look like I just did it because I was bored in Tokyo. That would reflect poorly on me, as everyone knows there is one of the most exciting towns in the world. Then, it would just seem like I was dull.

Probably, Alan Alda reaches my heart, apart from his lovely autobiographies, which are both humorous and life-altering, for his soliloquey-episode in M*A*S*H, "Hawkeye" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzggcKX0GmA). It is amazing that one man can hold your attention so easily for such a long period of time. I mean, Hamlet pretty much lost me after "to be or not to be" but then, he was a bit of a whiner. Hamlet wasn't my favorite Shakespeare...
